Training workshop for representatives of the Moldovan Diaspora entitled "Preventing and combating trafficking in human beings. Approach of the anti-trafficking policies through the cooperation with Diaspora"

On 28 august, the Permanent Secretariat of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, in partnership with the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, held a training workshop for representatives of the Moldovan Diaspora entitled "Preventing and combating trafficking in human beings. The approach of the anti-trafficking policies through the cooperation with Diaspora".

During the event, by the representatives of the Permanent Secretariat, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family, was presented the information regarding the institutional framework and legislation on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings, the responsibilities of the public authorities and the role of civil society in the field of preventing and combating trafficking in human beings, assistance and protection of the victims. 

Specialists from Center for Assistance and Protection for victims of human trafficking described information regarding the profile of the victims and potential victims of human trafficking  and the representatives of the International Center "La Strada" asserted the importance and utility of Hotline, through which can be accessed the services to migrants in need and to presumed victims of the trafficking in human beings.

Representatives of the Moldovan Diaspora (from Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, etc.) who attended the event, welcomed the initiative for cooperation in this field, have actively participated in the discussions and advanced suggestions for cooperation, both to assist and protect victims identified abroad, as well as to aware and inform population as regards  human trafficking and its dangers.

We mention that this activity was realized according to the National Plan on prevention and combating of trafficking in human beings for 2014-2016, approved by Government decision nr. 484 of 26.06.2014. Hereby, there was made the first step in establishing the relations of cooperation between the Permanent Secretariat and the Bureau for Diaspora Relations in the field of prevention and combating trafficking in human beings.
