National Campaign "Week of fight against trafficking in human beings", with the slogan

National Campaign "Week of fight against trafficking in human beings" will be held for the third consecutive year, during 16-23 October, the aim of which will be the prevention of trafficking in human beings by informing population, especially the young generation, focusing on recruitment methods on-line.

  The Government of the Republic of Moldova in partnership with civil society elaborated and promoted in the field of anti-trafficking an exhaustive legal and institutional framework, undertook a set of strategic actions, and practical activities designed to guide professionals of this field and to produce a plausible impact in order to prevent and combat trafficking in human beings, protect and assist victims and potential victims of this phenomenon.

Taking into account the new methods of recruiting victims, especially children and teenagers, in cyberspace, there were taken actions to consolidate the legal and institutional mechanism. Thus, in 2013 was created the Center for Combating Cyber Crimes within the General Inspectorate of Police. Furthermore, civil society has, also, reacted to these tendencies. In order to ensure the protection of children in cyberspace,  International Centre „La Strada" created and manages the website www.siguronline.md, which is a tool for information and safe use of the Internet by children, young people with the support and involvement of professionals, parents and teachers.

In this context, on 16 October, the Permanent Secretariat of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings will officially launch the Campaign - through a press conference with the participation of public institutions and civil society.

The Campaign will be conducted in the context of marking on 18 October the „European Day Against Trafficking in Human Beings", which was launched for the first time in 2007 by the European Commission.
